Repurposed Products

What is Upcycling?

Recycling transforms waste products into new materials. It's an industrial process used to then make either the same product again or another product.

Upcycling on the other hand, is a way to repurpose a product or material and is sometimes also referred to as ‘creative recycling’.

The Cambridge English Dictionary defines upcycling as:

“The activity of making new furniture, objects, etc. out of old or used things or waste material”

Upcycling is unrelated to the industrial process of recycling. It involves taking an item that would otherwise be waste and improving it in some way to make it useful again.

Upcycling is more than just transforming objects into better versions of themselves. Often, objects will get repurposed to offer a different function entirely.
